(HealthDay News) - Starting a walking regimen will help you feel better, stay healthier, and possibly lose weight.
The U.S. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute offers these suggestions:
- Find a walking buddy, and set a firm walking schedule. Try to walk at least three times a week
- Wear comfortable clothing, shoes and socks. Clothing shouldn't make you too warm or too cold.
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day. If possible, bring water with you during your walk.
- Your workout should consist of a warmup, a brisk walk, and a cool-down. All of these activities are important and shouldn't be neglected.
