OR-Live.com, a free website started by doctors, lets you catch a live surgery or view hundreds in its archive. Recent broadcasts included a “less invasive” total hip replacement with commentary from tennis great Jimmy Connors; a minimal incision total knee replacement; and a laparoscopic weight loss (gastric bypass).

Before going under the knife, you can see the operation you are about to have or you can check out a new type of surgery that you might want to talk to your doctor about.

Membership to the site is free and you can even subscribe to a free text messaging service to be notified of upcoming live broadcasts.
