More about you - details
Describe some of the important experiences of your life:
Nothing is more important to me than this time I have been given to share with my parents.
What's your biggest regret?:
That I didn't become best friends with my sister until this past year.
List your most inspiring heroes.:
My parents...especially my dad. Every service man and woman whoever served in a war...I do not think bravery is one of my strong suits.
List your favorite movies.:
Wizard of Oz,Miracle on 34th Street, Meet Me in St. Louis...old cowboy movies, musicals and just about anything with a good plot or storyline...from Erin Brockovich and the Net to Stepmom and even Harry Potter!
List the most recent books you have read.:
Louis Lamour westerns and started re-reading Lord of the Rings before moving in with the folks a year ago...no time to read now (except work related).
Who are your favorite musicians?:
I appreciate everything from heavy metal rock bands like Van Halen and Guns & Roses to the Celtic Women concerts or even the symphany. (Remember, I like musicals!). First stage play seen at 6 or 7 yrs. old was Oklahoma or South Pacific. First record ever owned was the Beatles -Rubber Soul. I sang with the Claremont Honor Glee Club and the Claremont Symphany when I was 10 or 11. First live band concert was the Beach Boys when I was 17.
Where would you most like to travel?:
Any exotic island like Aruba, not too touristy or crowded...more peaceful and quiet. Snorkling and sailing adventures where I could swim with the dolphins.
What is your educational background?:
Some college courses in business and early childhood development. Degree in Cosmetology. Continuing Education in work related (management)classes offered through agencies like SkillPath.
List the most interesting people you have known or met.:
My Dad, President Lyndon B. Johnson, First Lady Hillary Clinton, Sargeant Shriver, many of my friends, family and the senior volunteers I work with I would also consider interesting.
What organizations do you belong to?:
I was a member of Kiwanis for 15 years, am currently a member of the So.Cal, California and National Associations of Retired & Senior Volunteer Program Directors. I also have online memberships with several different organizations, mostly as relates to elders and aging.
If you had an extra $100,000 to give away, what would you do?:
I would take my family on that dolphin-island vacation I mentioned. Everyone would have to go with though, including mom amd dad - so it would take a nurse too and access to medical treatments as my dad is on dialysis 3 times a week. It would probably take more than $100,000, so maybe I would just match-fund the program I manage for the city for a three to five years so it would not get cut due to deficits in the city's budget. :)
